The Diploma in Art Teaching is an all-rounded art and teaching training programme that gives you the foundation you need to impart the arts to the next generation. Gain exposure to a wide variety of art disciplines through studio practices and studies in contemporary art theory.

 

This is a diploma course developed for the MOE Art Teacher Training Scheme for GCE ‘O’ Level holders. You will study for the first 3 years at NAFA and the final year at the National Institute of Education (NIE), then graduate with a Diploma in Art Teaching from NAFA, and a Diploma in Art Education from NIE. Upon completion of the course, you will be deployed to teach Art in Singapore secondary schools.

 

This programme exposes trainee teachers to a variety of art disciplines, including fine art, design, visual communication and multimedia. Our training at NAFA enables trainee teachers to acquire skills in studio practices and knowledge in modern and contemporary art theory. It also helps you build your ability in forging aesthetics with technology as well as mastering educational technology and IT knowledge, so as to be a competent art teacher in secondary schools.
